Kitchens

Designing, building, and installing fine kitchen cabinetry is the foundation of our work. The kitchen is one of the most important rooms in your home, and together we’ll ensure your new cabinetry is beautiful and perfectly designed for the way you live. We’ll make your cabinetry the furniture it deserves to be!

Design – Custom means just for you

During the design phase, we’ll start with a conversation about your hopes and ideas for your new kitchen.

  • In your previous kitchens, what worked and what didn’t?
  • Do you need a more efficient workflow?
  • Do you need more storage for food or dishes?
  • Which tools and appliances do you use most?
  • Does your family need a place to gather and talk while preparing dinner together,
or do you need an island where guests can enjoy a glass of wine with you as you cook?
  • Do you need space to prop a laptop, store children’s toys, or display handcrafted pottery?

These questions will help identify what’s important in the design. If you aren’t quite sure what you need, we’ll help define your priorities and provide pictures and examples of creative solutions in other kitchens. Together, we’ll frame a design for the cabinetry that will give you the kitchen you’ve always wanted.

Materials – Quality and style never go out of fashion

Your cabinets can be any style that suits you and your home’s décor. We’re often asked to design in the Craftsman, Shaker, and Colonial styles, but these can be just the beginning as we develop a custom design that works for you. If environmental considerations are important to you, we’ll talk about greener choices for wood, countertop, and finishes that are appropriate for your health, the environment, and your wallet.

Depending on your interests and budget, design elements can include inset doors and drawers, paneled cabinet sides, elaborate crown molding, and art glass door panels. Name your wood – cherry, maple, quartersawn oak, ash are among our favorites – we’ll work with local mills and hand-pick the boards for your kitchen. And your finish can be as simple as a clear varnish, or perhaps you’ve got a favorite custom stain or paint color in mind.

All of our kitchens include highBlum Blumotion slow-closing -quality materials such as dovetailed drawers of solid beech or maple, top-of-the-line soft-closing door hinges and undermount drawer slides, and reinforced adjustable shelves.

Budget – Custom doesn’t always mean pricey

You may be pleasantly surprised to learn that our custom cabinetry is priced competitively with higher-end stock cabinets. By paying a little more, you get a vast increase in quality, and your cabinets are designed and built to your exact specifications. When you hire Fiddlehead Designs for your new kitchen, you’re spending your money on dedicated craftsmanship instead of salespeople, showrooms, advertising, and fancy brochures.
